Anti-Missionary Attitudes

Various Articles

A number of articles reported again that during a first aid course, IDF soldiers were exposed to pro-Christian content which spoke highly of “that man” (Jesus), and presented Christianity as a religion of grace and love. Some articles called it “missionary preaching”. Jewish soldiers were “forced” to listen to ideas that were contrary to their beliefs, as one article put it. One solider said he was silenced after raising the objection that Christians have murdered hundreds of thousands of Jews throughout history. Another soldier complained that he felt he was a “Christian military” and not in the IDF. Or L’Achim sent a letter of protest to top political and military leaders.

Political Issues

HaDerech, November 26, 2020

The Jewish community in Quebec, Canada, has expressed anger over what it sees as discrimination against Jews. The provincial government in Quebec said that Christians would be allowed to gather for Christmas. The same allowance, however, has not be made for Jews wanting to celebrate Hanukkah, the article reported. There is a large Haredi community in Montreal.

Christians and the Holocaust

HaDerech, November 26, 2020

Christian representatives from the Dutch Protestant Church arrived at the Israeli Embassy in the Netherlands to deliver an official admission of guilt and apology for the church’s failure to do more to protect Jews before, during, and after the Holocaust. The letter was delivered to the chief rabbinate in the Netherlands, as well.
